Visit one of the Iowa Great Lakes' beautiful state parks!
Located throughout the Lake Okoboji and Spirit Lake area, several Iowa parks offer travelers and residents a number of places to picnic, fish and camp, and include boat launch areas, beaches, playgrounds and other things that outdoor enthusiasts would want. Below is a list of state park amenities offered around the Spirit Lake region. State Parks
Elinor Bedell State Park – Opened in 1998, Elinor Bedell
State Park is 80-acres located on the shores of East Lake Okoboji and was a
generous gift to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources from Berkley
and Elinor Bedell. Elinor_Bedell@dnr.state.ia.us.
Emerson Bay State Park – Located on the Southwest shore
of West Lake Okoboji, the park features all the amenities for camping. For more

Gull Point State Park – One of Okoboji’s beauties
offers camping areas and a restored rustic lodge that will seat 140 people,
nestled in the surrounding Burr Oak Forest. Gull_Point@dnr.state.ia.us
Marble Beach State Park – Stretching for more than
a mile on the west side of Big Spirit Lake, Marble Beach includes a campground
region with 224 available sites, and offers a sandy beach for fishing and family
water sports. 712.336.4437
Mini-Wakan State Park – Located on the north shore
of Big Spirit Lake, Mini-Wakan State park offers the user a boat ramp and several
areas to fish along the shoreline. Mini-Wakan also borders the area commonly
referred to as "the grade", which provides great shoreline fishing access. Mini-Wakan
has an open picnic shelter available on a first come/first serve basis. Fundraising
for a major upgrade of this park is underway.
Orleans Beach State Park, which borders the Big Spirit Lake
spillway and is across from the Spirit Lake Hatchery, offers a long sand beach
with off-shore diving platform, dressing area and restrooms.
Pikes Point State Park is located 2-1/2 miles southwest of
Spirit Lake on the northeast shore of West Lake Okoboji and offers an open shelter,
complete with fieldstone fireplaces. A dock is available for boat landing. Restrooms
and parking off Lake Shore Drive.
