Spirit Lake announces new Green Waste Site

Spirit Lake's Solid Waste Department will pickup green waste on Fridays. Friday, April 3rd will also be the last day the City will accept orange plastic bags willed with leaves from last fall. All green waste needs to be in 30 gallon kraft paper bags available from local retailers.
Branches and shrubbery can also be placed curbside for Friday pickup, however, branches must be no larger in diameter than 4" and securely bundled with jute or other biodegradable twine with tied bundles no larger than 12" in diameter and 4 ' long, not exceeding 40 lbs.
Residents and Contractors who plan to deliver brush and timber to the Green Waste Site will not be required to bundle the branches; but will be required to CUT all branches to lengths no longer than 4 feet. Contractors are also requried to purchase a permit from City Hall to use the Green Waste Site.
