The Sanitation department provides solid waste pickup for homes
and businesses. Pickup is performed daily Monday-Thursday depending
upon area of the City. See Our Community tab above and look up
Garbage/Solid Waste for details on pickup, recycling, green waste,
and other related information.
The Sanitation Department strives
to provide reliable
service throughout the City. Private service contractors are
not allowed in the City in order to provide cost-effective garbage
collection service. The City provides dumpsters of varying sizes
and roll-off containers for larger loads. All solid waste is
hauled to the Dickinson County Landfill, located east of Arnolds
Park. Dumpsters
and roll-offs can be ordered through City Hall at 336-1871.
For
operating efficiency,
the Sanitation Department is supervised by the Street Superintendent.
Staff from both divisions supports each other when the need arises,
such as heavy snow storms and when the City conducts its annual
Spring Clean Up.
